Skyline Spartan High School Football in Sammamish, Washington, established in 1997, has grown into the state's premier program.  Many voices familiar with high school sports and football in particular, believe the foundation for the success is due to four core principles:

Outstanding Coaching Staff who beyond teaching  the basics of the game, focus their attention on helping individual players to be part of the team, regardless of their skill set, building  confidence, self-esteem, and team unity....

Dedicated players working hard in the off-season on improving their physical resilience needed on the field at every practice and game, and their personal characteristics as role models in the community to younger players coming up through the system....

Encouraging families and community who promote the importance of attitude, work ethic and tradition as a basic philosophy of life as well as offer positive examples of "giving back".....

Supportive school administration that works with the program and community to enhance the high school experience beyond academics in the development of well-rounded graduates.

Spartan football weekly games are a small part of the process. A lot of sweat equity is required to field a premier program such as ours, which has received a lot of recognition over the years.  In the last eight years, the Spartans have yielded the following accomplishments:

Washington State Champions:  2000 (3A)   2005 (4A)   2007 (3A)   2008 (4A) - all perfect seasons

Washington State Champion Runner Up 2004 (4A);

Washington State Playoff appearances:  2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008

KingCo Conference Champions 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008

Because of the success, the program and all its elements, the Spartans have collected some high visibility:

2008 - Seattle Seahawk's NFL High School Player Development Team won the national competition in New Orleans in a record setting 11-0 performance - it was led by two Spartan Coaches and included 5 Spartan players

2008 - Ranked #5 in the nation by USA Today High School Football Rankings

2009 - ESPN Featured Game of the Week, nationally televised.

And, because of fielding a large youth support program system, and our historical success, we continue to attract high numbers of athletes to turn out each season, allowing teams to be fielded at the Varsity, JV, Sophomore and Freshman levels.

Programs of this level are only successful when there is an effort all year long.  This success increases the need for financial resources to provide a level of support to ensure on-going success.    For the 2009 season, over 150 athletes have committed to play and 15 coaches will help them prepare.  The players and coaches commit a 12 month effort towards each successful season.  Our commitment of raising resources and awareness is also as 52 week endeavor.  Our budget to support the program invests an average of $375 per player each season in various projects.

Resources from school districts to support activities that have been identified as "extra curricular" are only available during the school year, are limited in scope and continue to shrink.  So as they say "to fill the gap" the Skyline Gridiron Club was established in 2001.

Skyline Gridiron Alumni Football Association (Skyline Gridiron Club) is exempt from federal income tax under section 509 (A) 2 of the IRS code described in section 501 (C) 3. We are licensed as a non-profit corporation by the State of Washington.

We continually look for methods to raise awareness and resources to support the program.
