Skyline
QB, 6-5, 210, Jr.
Browne lit up the stat sheet again this season, completing 273 of 383 passes for 3,813 yards and 43 touchdowns with only five interceptions. The KingCo 4A Crest Division Offensive Player of the Year and two-time Star Times quarterback completed just over 70 percent of his passes, leading the Spartans back to the Tacoma Dome for the Class 4A state-championship game.
Jordan Todd
Interlake
RB, 5-7, 180, Sr.
It was a season to remember for the senior, who set the state's season rushing record with 2,681 yards over 12 games. He passed Ferndale's Matthias Wilson, who finished with 2,676 yards over 14 games in 1997. Todd rushed for 791 yards and eight touchdowns in two state playoff games.
Ryan Lewis
Eastlake
RB, 6-0, 185, Sr.
The first-team KingCo 4A Crest Division running back rushed for 1,706 yards (9.4 per carry) and a school-record 25 touchdowns. His 92-yard touchdown run in the season opener against Central Kitsap was the longest play in school history. As talented as he is at running back, he will probably play defensive back at the next level and has Pac-12 scholarship offers from Colorado and Utah.
Austin Pernell
Kentlake
WR, 5-11, 187, Sr.
Pernell was one of the most electrifying players on a talent-laden team that went 10-1. Good for nearly 130 all-purpose yards each game, he was a first-team All-SPSL 4A North choice on offense and defense and voted Defensive Back of the Year. Has a baseball scholarship to Washington State.
Christian Gasca
Lake Stevens
WR, 5-11, 185, Sr.
Whether it was catching passes, returning kicks or playing defense, Gasca was all over the field for Lake Stevens this season. He caught 80 passes for 1,308 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also returned four punts and two interceptions for scores and broke every school receiving record.
Caleb Smith
Kentridge
TE, 6-6, 245, Sr.
After converting from quarterback midway through his junior season, Smith developed into big-time recruit at tight end and committed to Oregon State. He averaged nearly 100 receiving yards per game and was named All-Purpose Player of the Year in the SPSL 4A North Division.
Josh Mitchell
Mount Si
OL, 6-4, 270, Sr.
The KingCo 3A/2A Lineman of the Year gave a verbal commitment to Oregon State before the season started. He is as tough as they come, a state-champion wrestler who played with a chip on his shoulder as he led the Wildcats to the state playoffs.
Nathan Dean
Juanita
OL, 6-5, 270, Sr.
The 2012 recruiting class is loaded with linemen and Dean, who has committed to Washington, is one of the top prospects in the state. The three-year starter was the Rebels' leader on the line.
Sam Shober
Archbishop Murphy
OL, 6-3, 215, Sr.
Shober's forte is linebacker. It's probably where he will play in college. However, when the Wildcats needed a tough yard, Shober, who has a 3.98 grade-point average, was in the game on the offensive line. The first-team All-Cascade Conference selection on both sides of the ball had 130 tackles — 15 for loss — and six sacks on defense.
Sam Flor
O'Dea
OL, 6-4, 285, Sr.
The Metro League Mountain Division Offensive Lineman of the Year helped blow open holes for standout running backs like Tatum Taylor and Jayshawn Jordan. The Washington State recruit, who has a 3.8 GPA, has been a three-year starter for the Irish.
Michael Kneip
Bellevue
OL, 6-4, 290, Sr.
The first-team KingCo 3A/2A offensive lineman has been a two-year starter at center for Bellevue. Wolverines assistant head coach Pat Jones calls him "the quarterback of the offensive line," praising his agility and explosiveness.
Jake Nelson
Lake Stevens
All-purpose, 6-2, 195, Sr.
Nelson put up huge numbers, completing 233 of 331 passes for 2,988 yards and 31 touchdowns, setting numerous records along the way. He also rushed for 732 yards and 16 touchdowns and even found a way to contribute on defense.
Cameron Van Winkle
Mount Si
K, 5-10, 160, Jr.
Van Winkle kicked his way into the state record books as a junior. He is already No. 2 all-time in career field goals with 29 in 33 games. He also set the record for field goals in a season with 18 in 11 games. Of the 18, six were from 42 yards or longer, with his longest from 49.
Wayne Maxwell
Woodinville coach
In Maxwell's eighth year at Woodinville, his Falcons put together the school's first 12-win season, carried by the improved play of a strong senior class. After back-to-back 4-5 seasons, Woodinville made a big jump in 2011 and the defense matched a school record with four shutouts.

STAR TIMES football teams are chosen after the regular season by Seattle Times reporters Mason Kelley and Sandy Ringer. Selections are from schools in King and Snohomish counties, or in Metro and WesCo.
Federal Way
DL, 6-1, 317, Sr.
Olive is an usual blend of power (he bench presses 445 pounds and squats 605) and speed (5.0 seconds in the 40-yard dash). He had 12 tackles for loss as the Eagles went 9-0 during the regular season. Named to the All-SPSL 4A South first team on offense and defense and was Defensive Lineman of the Year. Committed to Portland State.
Sawyer Whalen
Woodinville
DL, 6-4, 220, Sr.
The KingCo 4A Crown Division Defensive Player of the Year anchored the line on both sides of the ball for the Falcons. The Portland State-bound senior led Woodinville to the Class 4A semifinals with his high-energy approach, setting the tone for KingCo's toughest defense.
Darien Freeman
Bellevue
DL, 5-11, 270, Jr.
The first-team All-KingCo 3A/2A selection has incredible quickness for a defensive lineman. He faced double teams on just about every play, but usually found a way to break through and disrupt the offense, recording 35.5 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
Gino Bresolin
Eastlake
DL, 6-2, 265, Sr.
The three-year starter and two-time KingCo 4A Crest Division Lineman of the Year had another big season for Eastlake on both sides of the ball. On offense, he helped open holes for running back Ryan Lewis. On defense, he had 45 tackles (eight for loss), two sacks and a 50-yard fumble return.
Jordan Pulu
Federal Way
LB, 6-2, 240, Sr.
The rock of a defense that allowed just 64.2 yards rushing per game (2.5 per play) in the regular season, the WSU-bound Pulu was Linebacker of the Year in the SPSL 4A South. He made a team-high 61 tackles in the regular season and helped lead the Eagles to the state playoffs for only the second time since 1976.
Peyton Pelluer
Skyline
LB, 6-1, 220, Jr.
Pelluer seemed to be in on just about every tackle against Central Valley in the 4A quarterfinals. The KingCo 4A Crest Division Defensive Player of the Year has 141 tackles — 115 solo — and averaged more than 10 per game.
Sean Constantine
Bellevue
LB, 6-2, 218, Jr.
The first-team All-KingCo 3A/2A linebacker is one of the leaders on a tremendously talented Bellevue defense. The junior, who picked up a scholarship offer from Washington during the season, has 92 tackles, 10 for loss and a 47-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Jason Thompson
Kennedy Catholic
DB, 6-3, 195, Sr.
Thompson, a four-year veteran at quarterback and three-year starter on defense, was the leader for the Seamount League champion Lancers. The two-way, first-team all-league choice and Defensive Back of the Year made an early commitment to play defense for Washington.
Tyler Hasty
Bellevue
DB, 5-11, 185, Sr.
The KingCo 3A/2A Defensive Player of the Year was a force on both sides of the ball for the Wolverines this season. The senior, who has offers from Colorado, Idaho and Oregon State, has 38 tackles, four interceptions and has broken up 14 passes.
Jayshawn Jordan
O'Dea
DB, 5-10, 180, Sr.
The Metro League Mountain Division Defensive MVP is a three-year starter and a leader on both sides of the ball. He plays both running back and cornerback for the Irish. Coach Monte Kohler called him a "great cover corner."
Kyler Larsen
Meadowdale
DB, 6-2, 185, Sr.
The first team All-WesCo 3A selection was a key contributor to a Meadowdale defense that was one of the best in the state. The senior safety, who has an offer from Air Force, helped the Mavericks hold opposing offenses to fewer than 10 points in all but three games this season.
K.W. Williams
Jefferson
P, 6-1, 194, Sr.
Williams, who led the Raiders to the state playoffs for the first time in school history, averaged nearly 36 yards per punt. He was also SPSL 4A North Offensive Back of the Year with 3,000-plus total yards as a quarterback. He was also a first-team all-division defensive back.
