Jack Valencia, Skyline football: Valencia, a junior, scored two of the final three touchdowns — on an 11-yard run and a 74-yard interception return — to seal the Spartans' 38-7 victory over Skyview in the state championship game.
Kiana Hood, Cascade (Everett) basketball: Hood, a senior, had 18 points, 10 rebounds, seven blocks and two steals and was 6 of 8 from the free-throw line in a season-opening 49-45 win over Mountlake Terrace.
