His time at Skyline might be done, but future University Washington football player Kasen Williams keeps bringing awards back to the Sammamish Plateau.
Yesterday, the Spartans’ three-sport athlete was named the MaxPreps 2010-2011 Male Athlete of the Year, edging out competitors from across the country.
Williams caught 86 passes for 1,579 yards and 21 touchdowns during football season, averaged 12.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in basketball and won three state track & field titles in the long jump and high jump — including a new state triple jump record of 50 feet, 9 1/4 inches.
Williams edged some other huge names, including University of Florida-bound quarterback Jacoby Brissett and Bubba Starling, who was recruited to play quarterback at the University of Nebraska and drafted fifth overall by the Kanas City Royals in the 2011 MLB Draft.
On June 23, Williams was also named the 2010-11 Gatorade Washington Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year.
