Skyline senior running back Damian Greene, left, holds on to the ball and spins past Issaquah defensive back Derek Chapman before scoring a pivotal touchdown in the third quarter Sept. 23.

The Skyline Spartans came out on top, beating Issaquah 41-14 Sept. 23. Skyline quarterback Max Browne worked in typical fashion after a slow start, completing 30 of 42 pass attempts for 361 yards and five touchdowns. He threw one interception, but his scoring strikes went to four different receivers.

Issaquah got ahead early in the first quarter but Skyline took a 17-14 lead into the break. The Spartans scored 31 unanswered points, altogether and held the Eagles to just 60 yards of total offense in the second half. Brown and the Skyline offense found a rhythm in the third quarter, scoring 14.

Issaquah quarterback Ethan Kalin threw three interceptions and went 16 for 29 for 189 yards passing, including touchdown strikes to Jack Gellatly and Derek Chapman, respectively.

The Eastlake Wolves improved to 4-0 overall (2-0 KingCo Crest Division) after blanking Redmond 43-0. It led 17-0 at halftime and scored 20 in the third quarter to put it away for good.

The Eastside Catholic Crusaders held Seattle Prep to a 7-7 tie going into the halftime break. But Prep relied on a big-play touchdown in the third from Gill Biesold-McGee and another 14 points in the fourth quarter. Eastside Catholic lost 25-15 to go to 2-2 on the season. The Crusaders defense did catch Seattle Prep in the end zone for a safety for 2 points in the fourth, but it was too little too late.
