Skyline's Press Release was distributed Friday, 3/6/20 after the new head coach met with members of the team.

Skyline High School is excited to announce Cameron Elisara as the third head varsity football coach in Skyline High School history.  He follows Mat Taylor, who resigned after a highly decorated 12 years as head coach.

Coach Elisara is a 2006 graduate of Ferris High School in Spokane, where he played football for coach Clarence Hough. A decorated defensive lineman for the Saxons, Coach Elisara earned first team All-GSL honors in 2004 and 2005, and was named AP and Seattle Times first team All-State in 2005, as well as a PrepStar and Sports Illustrated All-American. As a prep shot putter, he won the 4A state title in 2005 and 2006 and still holds the district and regional records in the event.

Coach Elisara accepted a football scholarship to the University of Washington where he was a three year starter on the defensive line for the Huskies and played under legendary defensive line coach Randy Hart and his successor, Nick Holt. He also competed in the shot put and discus for the Huskies track and field team. He graduated from the University of Washington in 2011 with a major in communications and a minor in education.

After college, Coach Elisara became a Teach for America (Mississippi Delta) corps member where he taught and coached at Holly Springs High School. During his time there he taught math, was the defensive line coach for the football team, the junior varsity head basketball coach, and the shot put and discus coach for the track and field team.

In 2014, Coach Elisara returned to the University of Washington to earn his master degree through the Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership program. He worked in Student-Athlete Academic Services as a Student-Athlete Development assistant and Learning Specialist for football, women’s soccer, and track and field athletes. Upon earning his masters in educational administration in 2015, Coach Elisara began teaching and coaching at Skyline High School.

During his past 5 years at Skyline High School, Coach Elisara has taught math, coached the defensive line, and has served as the boys head coach and throws coach for the track and field team. Coach Elisara has a passion for teaching and coaching and develops lasting connections with the students and student-athletes he supports.

Coach Elisara brings an energy and passion for the game of football that runs deep. His father, Matt, was an All-PAC 10 and honorable mention All-American defensive tackle for the Washington State Cougars and his older brother was a GSL record-setting quarterback at Ferris. In his life outside of teaching and coaching, he enjoys spending time and playing ukulele with his wife, Cora, their newborn daughter, Kalia, and their dog, Ruckus.

Coach Elisara on taking over as head coach at Skyline, “I have found a home and family in Skyline. My time is highlighted by the relationships that I have developed with both students, athletes, families, fellow coaches and staff members. I am entering the role as head coach with a passion to optimize the experience for the team and a vision to uplift the program to the next level. I am fortunate to have been given the opportunity to lead a team in a community that has shown enthusiasm and support for athletics and I thank everybody involved in the interview process for believing in me.”
